After 23 years of building and leading sales teams and mentoring tens of thousands of sales leaders, I’ve learned something pretty obvious…
Being good at sales, and being good at leadership are two completely different skill sets.
And it’s a problem because it’s top salespeople who get promoted into leadership, and then they struggle trying to lead a team.
But what isn’t so obvious is how to navigate this.
This is why I have obsessed the last 10 years on creating a duplicatable system to guide people on this journey.
Sellership is now the world’s most comprehensive leadership framework to help high-performing salespeople transition successfully into leadership roles.
The Sellership System™ How to Master the Transition From Selling To Leading
I remember years ago, sitting at a mastermind retreat with my mentor, Brian Tracy.
He looked me in the eye and said,
“Ben, top salespeople struggle when placed in leadership roles.”
They are good at sales and get thrown into the lions den of leadership and get eaten alive.”
That hit me like a ton of bricks, because I was that guy.
I had made a name for myself in sales and was thrown into management, expecting to just “duplicate myself.”
Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work that way.
I got my teeth kicked in.
I spent more time putting out fires than anything else.
I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.
I was frustrated, overwhelmed, and exhausted trying to lead with tools I didn’t have.
I thought maybe I needed to go back to just personally selling.
I was pretty serious about doing this, but I decided to double down on learning how to lead.
I pushed for years to figure it out and fell on my face more times than I would like to admit.
The Sellership System™ Was Born Out of That Struggle
Fast forward a couple of decades, thousands of leadership reps trained, multiple sales orgs built, and three bestselling books later, I created what I wish I had back then:
A 7-step framework to help high-performing sales professionals transition from individual contributors to remarkable sales leaders.
