Every number on your scoreboard started in someone’s mind. If the mind is unclear, the mission will drift.
Where’s Their Mind At?
Leaders often hack at the branches of motivation instead of striking at the root.
Hacking at branches looks like jumping to tactics to make more calls, set more meetings, push harder.
That’s treating the symptom. Not the cause.
Striking at the root is identifying what they really want, why they want it, and help them take the kind of action it will take to get what they want. Your biggest role as a leader is to help the people you lead get what they want.
What do they want? Where’s their mind at?
Until you understand this, almost nothing you do will inspire them at they deepest level.
The good news is it’s very simple.
Understanding the Mind (Focus • Goal • Belief)
Your people aren’t going to outperform the picture in their head.
When I mentor leaders, I look for three clues:
- Focus — What has their attention right now?
- Goal — What are they truly aiming for?
- Belief — Do they think it’s possible?
If any piece is missing, fog is the result. And fog slows movement. A confused mind says no. A fuzzy vision doesn’t inspire action.
That’s why I prioritize mind over metrics.
Check out this 30-second clip where I break down how the Mind–Heart–Feet alignment drives clarity and results.
The Power of Clarity (From Vague Intention to Clear Mission)
“I want to sell more” is a wish. “I’m hitting 40K this month, so I can take my family to Hawaii” is a mission.
Clarity fuels action, and has the power to turn effort into momentum.
If someone on your team has a fuzzy vision and battles doubt, have them watch this 3-minute reset: Eliminate Limiting Beliefs in 3 Minutes.
Coaching Cue: Mind Alignment Before Mission Execution
Alignment first. Acceleration second.
When the mind is aligned, the heart commits, and the feet follow.
The mind and the heart control the feet. Always.
That’s the heartbeat of Mind–Heart–Feet.

One-on-One Script (Use this in your next meeting)
Goal: What is your specific goal this week? (month / quarter / year / etc… *pick one)
Why: Why does achieving this matter to you? (Bridge to heart)
Belief: Can you see yourself achieving it?
Listen to their words. Then listen to their confidence.
Teach them the simple mantra: Believe it, Conceive it, Achieve it.
Teach the to focus and fixate on what they want, and avoid the fixation error – fixating on what they don’t want.
Numbers matter. But the people behind them matter more.
From Metrics to Mindset (Leading Minds, Not Just Numbers)
You can fix numbers faster and more permanently when you fix the narrative behind them.
Start your next meeting with: “Where’s your mind at?”
Because if you don’t win the mind, you’ll lose the mission.
Extreme clarity around the mind, is the first key to unlocking the heart.
More about unlocking the heart in our next conversation.
Make it a great day my friend 🤝
